Situated at the end of the Passage Canal on the western edge of Prince William Sound, Whittier is approximately 60 miles southeast of Anchorage and is separated from Alaska’s road system by a 2.5 mile long tunnel that is shared by alternating one-way auto and railroad traffic. To the south of Wittiier is another epic spot pioneered by Tom Fredericks. From town head West and South until the road ends. Skin or snowmachine above treeline.The photos below were shot a few thousand feet above treeline. Expert terrain and avalanche prone slopes.
Wind:
Whitter is one of the windiest spots in South Central Alaska. It has been referred to as Shitter by many. The wind is gusty and the terrain is rowdy.
