Portage Pass

Description:

Pioneered last winter by Tom Fredricks and friends from Girdwood. Portage Pass is located between Whitter and Portage Lake. Kite to the end of the lake and climb up and right(northeast). There is a bad wind shadow/wind compression at the bottom of the lake and it will be difficult for the first 500ft. Lots of great expert terrain as well as avalanche prone slopes. Be careful.

Wind:

Lots of wind here from the east and west. Typically a bit stronger than the lake.
