This is the view from Atigun Pass, which at 4,739 feet is the highest mountain pass on an alaskan road to be kept open year-round. It is also the northernmost pass in the world open for winter travel. The North Slope and the Brooks Range receive little snow and the winter temps are a bit cold. April and early May are the best times to make this trip. There is good catibatic wind on the north side of the Brooks range but little snow in the Valley. The top of the pass does have great terrian and wind.
